Former Student Makes Olympic Team

Brown (from his website)

William “Jake” Brown, a former Northern Michigan University student-athlete, has qualified for the U.S. Olympic team in biathlon, a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.

In 2015, Brown was a member of the Wildcat Nordic ski team while attending graduate school pursuing a master's degree in exercise science. He was coached by Sten Fjeldheim and Shane McDowell. He went on to finish his NCAA career at the U.S. Nationals as an All-American with a top-five finish.

“Success breeds success, and thanks to them (Fjeldheim and McDowell) I was able to finish my NCAA skiing career as an All-American in Steamboat Springs, Colo.” said Brown.
