NMU Rec Services Hosts Community Water Safety Day

The Northern Michigan University Rec Sports Department, in collaboration with the Marquette City Fire Department, will provide area children and their parents with an opportunitiy to develop water safety skills and learn about related equipment during a Community Water Safety Day. The event runs from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in the NMU PEIF pool. 

Children will be assisted by NMU Rec Sports American Red Cross water safety instructors and firefighters as they visit various water safety-related stations. They will learn about safety facts and skills and how to apply them, and also become familiear with life-saving equipment used by the Marquette City Fir Department. Parents will also receive instruction on ways to keep children safe in and around the water.

Registration is limited to 50 participants ages 6-10, with a $10 fee per child. All participants will receive a water safety day completion certificate and a prize.
