Alumna Earns DKG Lifetime Achievement Award

NMU alumna Katherine “Kay” Mattson of Kingsford, who graduated with an elementary education degree in 1962, recently received the Delta Kappa Gamma Society Michigan State Organization's Lifetime Service Award. DKG is an honorary international organization that supports the role of women in education through scholarships and fellowship programs.

Mattson retired after teaching for more than 35 years in the Fraser, Gwinn and Marquette School Districts. She has been a member of DKG since 1986. Mattson was honored at a recent meeting of the Beta Sigma Chapter of DKG, which includes members from Michigan's Dickinson, Delta and Menominee counties, along with neighboring Wisconsin's Marinette, Oconto and Florence counties.
