Representatives of companies on the cutting edge of Michigan's evolving cannabis industry will discuss careers, innovations and trends during a panel presentation at Northern Michigan University. The free event is scheduled from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, in Reynolds Recital Hall.

Panelists include Scott Kuzdzal, vice president of marketing for Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, which partnered with NMU to equip a new medicinal plant chemistry laboratory, and to create a framework for internship opportunities and research collaborations.

Three representatives of Green Peak Innovations, a Windsor Township-based company that is the largest vertical medical marijuana license holder in the state, will also participate. They are: Molly Kreykes, plant development manager; Emily Roberts, biochemist; and NMU alumnus Brandon Frisk, brand specialist.

The remaining panelist is Allison Weber Ledbetter, account manager for Orion GMP Solutions, which helps clients adapt pharmaceutical manufacturing standards to the cannabis industry.
