Leslie Warren, Northern Michigan University's dean of library and instructional support, has been invited to serve on the American Library Association's Rural, Native and Tribal Libraries of All Kinds Committee. Her term begins July 1 and continues through June 30, 2022.
“Libraries in rural, native and tribal communities provide important resources for education, leisure and economic growth,” said Warren, a member at large selected by the ALA president-elect. “Being on this national committee will allow me to make sure the challenges and solutions in the Upper Peninsula are part of the national conversation.”
The committee's charge is to review issues and challenges confronting these libraries, collaborate with other ALA units addressing the needs of rural communities, and serve as an advocate for and partner with libraries serving rural, tribal and native populations.
