Northern Michigan University will host an inaugural Bike Week on campus. During the week of April 22, there will be various events across campus to encourage bicycling for students, faculty, staff and community members.
Bike Week is designed to promote health, safety and sustainability in a bike-friendly environment.
“Bike Week's goals are to increase ridership and improve bicycle commuting habits on campus," said Ryan Watling, NMU student bicycle and trail programs manager and Bike Week co-coordinator. "This week of events will demonstrate that biking isn't solely recreational but that biking is also an accessible mode of transportation.”
Events throughout the week will include:
Bike Fair on Monday, April 22
Tune-Up Tuesday on Tuesday, April 23
Group Bike Ride with Wildcat Willy on Tuesday, April 23
Bike to Campus Day on Wednesday, April 24.
University students and employees and community members are invited to participate in all events free of charge. For more information and the total list of events, visit the Facebook event page here.
