Steve Burns, best known as the original host of the long-running children's television program Blues Clues, will visit Northern Michigan University. He will participate in a moderated Q&A session titled "What Happened to Steve?" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, in the Northern Center Grand Ballroom. A meet and greet will follow at 8:15 p.m.
Variety magazine featured an article about Burns, who now talks with college students about mental health and his own inspiration to work on his well-being.
"I was struggling with severe clinical depression the whole time I was on that show,” said Burns in the story. “It was my job to be utterly and completely full of joy and wonder at all times, and that became impossible. I was always able to dig and find something that felt authentic to me that was good enough to be on the show, but after years and years of going to the well without replenishing it, there was a cost.”
Burns is an Emmy-nominated actor as “Steve” from Nickelodeon's Blue's Clues and was also nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2001. He is also featured in the Paramount+ feature film Blue's Big City Adventure.
