Southside Buddhist: Essays by Ira Sukrungruang will be the featured selection for NMU's 2020 Diversity Common Reader Program (DCRP). Students can obtain free copies at the start of the winter semester at the Multicultural Education and Resource Center in C.B. Hedgcock. Faculty members are encouraged to incorporate the text into a class, organize an event related to the book or facilitate a book discussion.

Kristian Nairn, best known for his role as Hodor on the HBO series Game of Thrones, will be visiting Northern Michigan University on Tuesday, Nov. 19. He will speak at 7 p.m. in Jamrich 1100. This event is open to the public. Admission is free for NMU students with a valid ID and $5 for non-students.

To celebrate the unveiling of a new exhibit and its new location, the Northern Michigan University Students' Art Gallery (SAG) will host a reception in Lydia Olson Library from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18.

Survivor Café author Elizabeth Rosner will give a free presentation at Northern Michigan University. As firsthand survivors of many of the 20th century's most monumental events―the Holocaust, Hiroshima, the Killing Fields―begin to pass away, Rosner's book addresses the responsibility of ensuring that their stories are carried forward so the horrors of the past are not forgotten. Her talk is scheduled from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in Jamrich Hall 1100. 

Northern Michigan University Honors Program students and their faculty mentors will present their research projects from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Lydia Olson Library atrium. Admission is free and open to the public.
