Sault Ste. Marie's Downtown Development Authority recently appointed Northern Michigan University alumna Stephanie Sprecker as the new DDA director. She completed NMU's master of public administration (MPA) program in 2022.
Sprecker said her previous work with the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians as an executive assistant, administrative manager in the executive office and COVID-19 task force manager has prepared her for her new role.
"I had my eye on this job for a while, and it's within my career path and it's what I want to do," Sprecker told The Sault News. "I want to help people, specifically my own community. Growing up here, I have an innate passion to see our community thrive, to see our business owners do well."
Sprecker also holds a business associate degree from Bay Mills Community College and a business management bachelor's degree from Lake Superior State University.
Her goal is to focus on Sault Ste. Marie's downtown businesses and promote local events to bring more awareness and revenue to the community.
