Northern Michigan University 2004 alumna Aidan McKindles was recently appointed as Marquette County's new register of deeds. She will be the official recorder of land records in the county. McKindles earned a bacehlor's degree in political science with a minor in English.

Mining Journal coverage of her appointment indicates that McKindles is replacing Carla L'Huillier, who resigned from the position mid-term because of her retirement from the county.

"Taking on the responsibility for officially recording all land records for the county has been a goal of mine for some time," McKindles said at her swearing-in ceremony. “I'm honored to serve the public and the county in this capacity and look forward to continuing the excellent reputation the Register's Office has had throughout the past years under the leadership of Carla L'Huillier.”

McKindles has also completed a year of paralegal training from Lake Superior State University, and worked as a paralegal for about six years.
