Northern Michigan University 1997 social work alumna Jamie Langley serves as an in-school social worker for East Jackson Community Schools in Michigan, assisting kids through mental health issues and helping families find resources. She was the subject of a recent "Meet the Teacher" media profile on MLive.com.
"When I see my clients that I worked with years and years ago out in the community now, or students that have graduated and moved on, I'm super proud to see how they've enriched their own lives and advocated for themselves," Langley said in the story. "If I can play a tiny role in that, I'm so grateful. I find joy in seeing other people be successful."
Langley's service throughout the Jackson community dates back nearly 27 years. She previously worked 11-year stints with both Jackson's Head Start preschool program and the Jackson County Health Department before joining the school district in 2019.
