Alumnus Stephen Dupuie is putting his NMU education to use renovating an old Kalamazoo church building into a new venue for his sketch comedy group, The Dormouse Troupe. The facility will also host music shows and other performances that are “off the beaten path” of traditional theater.

Dupuie earned a bachelor's degree in theater and entertainment arts. According to a Second Wave Media feature story, he is also applying his minors in English and business to his passion. Dupuie and other Dormouse members write and perform their own comedy material, which conveys messages designed to make audiences think. His business coursework has proved helpful in “clearing regulatory, building and business hurdles” necessary to get the theater going, hopefully by spring. Read the full story on his project here.
