Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota artists who reside north of the 45th parallel are invited to submit works for the annual “North of the 45th” juried exhibition at Northern Michigan University's DeVos Art Museum. Artists 18 and older may enter up to five images of their work across all media created within the past three years to be considered for the summer 2024 show. The submission deadline is Wednesday, March 13.
This year's jurors are: Shawn Powell, artist and associate professor of painting at Kent State University; and Annie Wischmeyer, writer and curatorial consultant of the Curated Storefront in Akron. The pair has operated Gazebo Gallery from their home since 2020, uniting artists from all corners of the United States with their evanescent exhibitions staged in the unbound, natural environment of their woodsy backyard.
Powell and Wischmeyer will select works from the pool of submissions to be showcased, and choose the winner of the $500 Juror's Choice Award. An Audience Choice Award will also be allotted to an artwork based on a popular vote conducted among the exhibition's visitors, and a Permanent Collection Acquisition Award will be accorded based on acquisition committee approval.
The exhibition will be available for public viewing from June 13-July 12. Learn more about entry requirements at nmuartmuseum.com.
