Northern Michigan University MBA alumnus Ben Collins was recently hired as the new general manager for Cedarburg Light & Water Utility in Wisconsin. He previously served as manager of utility planning and projects for Marquette Board of Light and Power.
“Cedarburg is a vibrant community and similar in many ways to the community I'm coming from,” said Collins, referring to Marquette. “Being able to use my experience to help Cedarburg Light & Water continue as a top electric and water utility is really exciting. I look forward to ensuring the utility remains a valuable asset that the community is proud to call its own.”
According to a press release, the general manager of Cedarburg Light & Water is responsible for both day-to-day management of activities and long-term planning, including overseeing the utility's financial health, operations, maintenance, and the delivery of electric power and water to the community.
Collins completed his MBA from NMU in 2015 and trained in the theory of electrical power systems. He previously earned his bachelor's in electrical and electronic engineering from Michigan Technological University. He formed his own business, Renewable Engineering Solutions, before joining the Marquette Board of Light and Power in his first role there as manager for distribution engineering services.
