Cruz Reappointed to Hispanic/Latino Commission

Jessica Cruz, Northern Michigan University's chief diversity and inclusion officer, has been reappointed to the Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Her term expires Dec. 10, 2022. 

According to a press release from the governor's office, Cruz also serves as graduate faculty for NMU and Central Michigan University, and is a member of the U.S. Census 2020 UP Nonprofit Advisory Committee. She earned her Doctor of Education from the Teacher's College at Columbia University.

The Hispanic/Latino Commission of Michigan was created to develop a unified policy and plan of action to serve the needs of Michigan's Hispanic and Latino people. The law directs the commission to advise the governor, the legislature and the office concerning the coordination and administration of state programs serving the Hispanic and Latino population.
