Danik Earns NMU Innovation Award

Danik

Christopher Danik, director of software development/mobile apps at Northern Michigan University, is the 2021 NMU Individual Innovation Award recipient.

By using the Passport to Campus app that Danik developed, NMU was able to give COVID-19 tests to all its faculty, staff and students before and during each semester in 2020-21. His skills and dedication to detail led him to develop the app in record time, without major issues.

Danik continued to fine tune the software to provide a seamless system, allowing testing events to run smoothly and quickly. He was also vital in the development of the COVID-19 Dashboard, where faculty, staff and students have access to their test results and to view the COVID-19 statistics.

“These innovative programs were essential in keeping our campus safe,” stated Danik's award description.

NMU honored several individuals and teams during its virtual 2021 Faculty and Staff Recognition Celebration. Employees were also honored for years-of-service milestones and retirement during the event. See all of those highlighted, along with the award winners, here
