Northern Michigan University's DeVos Art Museum will hold a family night from 5-7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 20. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to participate in an all-ages activity, using surprising materials to reveal magical winter landscapes inspired by the artwork on view and create a mixed-media artwork to take home. Guided tours with the curators will be offered at 5 and 6 p.m.
Family night events will highlight current exhibitions New to the Collection: Lundmark and the Lake, Kinngait: Artists' Reflections in Print, Selections in Contemporary Illustration and Snowdrift, all of which include works from the museum's permanent collection. These exhibitions are on display through this summer. The senior exhibition with works from all media created by students graduating in May will also be available for viewing.
Curators Emily Lanctot, Sydney Sarasin and Diane Kordich will be available throughout the event to answer questions.
The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday. Contact the museum at (906) 227-2235 or online at nmuartmuseum.com.
