NMU alumnus Michael Dupont had two reasons to celebrate at the end of the academic year. He received one of Bay College's 2023 Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Awards and also retired after teaching there since 1983. He holds a master's degree in guidance and counseling from NMU and is a licensed master social worker and professional counselor, as well as a counselor in internationally certified drug addiction.
According to a press release, Dupont was a social work instructor, but taught many different courses and served as an adviser to students at Bay College. One of his students said, “Michael has a deep knowledge of the social work profession and uses his humor to explain material that is helpful. He is very passionate, empathetic and a direct person who is not afraid to speak to his students about the challenges of the social work profession.
