Excellence in Scholarship: Gabe Logan

Gabe Logan is entering his 18th year in NMU's History Department and his fifth as the AAUP faculty union's contract officer. He served as Editor for Upper Country, a Journal of the Lake Superior Region, from 2015-2019. Logan has authored 25 peer-reviewed works that include journal articles, book chapters, book reviews, accreditation reports and a monograph. He has also presented 23 papers at national and international conferences. 

Last year, Logan provided a chapter on early Chicago soccer to Soccer Frontiers. The piece won the North American Society of Sport History Anthology of the Year Award for 2022. Logan's most recent paper, "The Manhattan Beer Project: Chicago Soccer, Suds, and the Syndicate, 1938-1939,” received the Best Paper Award by an Experienced Scholar at Europe's Politics and Sport Conference in Lisbon, Portugal.
