Northern Michigan University preventive maintenance technician Chele Sproull is one of nine recipients of NMU's 2022 Excellence in Service awards. Sproull has been employed at the University since 2012, and has been with the Facilities Department as a preventive maintenance technician (PMT) since 2019.
She is responsible for maintaining the mechanical equipment in the PEIF, Superior Dome and Berry Events Center, which includes the pool and the ice arena. These are efforts that often go unnoticed by the general public.
Sproull continually exemplifies each of NMU's core values in her work. She takes pride in her work and her work ethic is powered by discipline and courage. She also works with perseverance to get any job done.
Never missing an opportunity to grow, Sproull has attended numerous seminars and classes, earning the esteemed Certified Pool and Spa Technician certificate from the Aquatic Training Institute.
She is respected by all of her peers, admired by students and the staff members who depend on her and always demonstrates a positive attitude. She is friendly to everyone, caring, listens and makes sure everyone around her feels welcome, which strengthens the student body.
Sproull sacrifices her personal time and energy to keep the students and staff safe and comfortable on campus, and for that Northern Michigan University is proud to have her on staff.
