Excellence in Service: Kristin Demboski, Pharmacy Technician, Health Center

Demboski

Northern Michigan University Health Center Pharmacy Technician Kristin Demboski is one of nine recipients of NMU's 2022 Excellence in Service awards. In order to help keep campus open and students on campus during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Demboski reached outside of her job description and acquired a certificate to immunize.

The Health Center and pharmacy always has the health and wellness of our students and employees as its top priority. As never before, this goal has added implications during the pandemic.

The program to become certified in administering immunizations included extensive book work along with practical training. Since becoming certified, Demboski has been able to vaccinate students and employees against Covid-19. The paperwork required to administer a vaccine is extensive and time consuming.

Demboski accomplished this in addition to her daily work load. She also assisted Health Center staff triaging patients for Covid-19 testing, which was also above and beyond her daily job duties.

Demboski's willingness to volunteer for the added workload shows her loyalty to the Health Center and to the campus community. Demboski has worked beyond what is required of her position and selflessly puts herself in a position to help the university continue to be a special place to attend school.
