Theresa "T" Hamari, manager of employment operations and training for NMU Dining Servies, received an Excellence in Service Award. She is described as a knowledgeable individual students can turn to for employment-related questions. She also expands or improves programs while creating strong connections and communities.
Hamari took a concept for early arrival employment and expanded it into a program that includes an immersive two-week train and acclimation to the campus and Marquette communities. The program provides incoming students an employment opportunity that includes moving onto campus two weeks early and the arrival and house fees paid by Dining Services.
Students receive hands-on training and social events on campus and in the Marquette area. The program has been successful for incoming students, welcoming over 75 students since its inception.
Also, Hamari piloted the Green and Gold program to acquire the necessary identification to complete the required documents for the student hiring process on campus. It streamlines student hiring by documenting the receipt of federally required identification.
It provides students with a Green and Gold card that can be given to any department, so they don't need to provide multiple forms again when they begin employment. This process has allowed students to keep their personal documents more secure, allowed departments to schedule them faster and made the student employment process easier for the students.
