Philadelphia professional boxer and NMU alumnus "The New" Ray Robinson ('05 VOC) will face Josh Kelly June 1 for the WBA international welterweight title. Robinson said training under coach Al Mitchell at what was then the U.S. Olympic Education Center at NMU "got me to where I am now." The sport helped him overcome the adversity of his Philly childhood, which included being thrown down a flight of stairs by an abusive father and living in a homeless shelter with his family. Read a Boxing Monthly inspirational interview ahead of his bout here.
