Northern Arts and Entertainment will host the five-person band Hippo Campus on Friday, March 17, featuring Lisa Heller and NMU student opener LPM. Doors open at 7 p.m.. Tickets are available at nmu.universitytickets.com for $10 for NMU students at and $20 for the general public.
Hippo Campus includes vocalists Jake Luppen and Nathan Stocker, drummer Whistler Allen, bassist Zach Sutton and trumpeter DeCarlo Jackson. They will play songs from their new release, LP3, an album that explores the nuance of growing up and finding one's identity in today's world, both on a personal level and in the public eye.
Fresh off a nearly sold-out tour with Harbour and Wingtip, Heller released “brown paper bag,” the first of twelve new songs that are part of a year-long journey through her life and struggles with relationships and mental health in three EPs. Heller's message is one of confronting and overcoming adversity and that everyone faces struggles.
LPM is a unique independent artist with folk, Americana and rock flair. She focuses on engaging and genuine lyrics that flow with distinctive and memorable melodies. While her debut album will feature the force of a full band, she currently performs and records solo and acoustically.
