The Northern Climate Network will host a Marquette Climate March from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Marquette Commons. Marquette is among thousands of cities creating awareness for environmental change and participating in the People’s Climate Movement this year.
Community members are invited to take part in the two-mile march through downtown Marquette, followed by a rally at the Marquette Commons. The rally will highlight positive conversation, community dance, music and Marquette’s finest food trucks. Goals are to bring together community members to share information and resources about living lighter on the planet and to create a family friendly event that raises awareness.
The People’s Climate Movement, started in 2014, calls for action from government leaders and officials on climate change and environmental issues. Stemming from the People’s Climate Movement, the Northern Climate Network and students at Northern Michigan University hosted Marquette’s first climate march in 2014.
