Northern Michigan University will hold its sixth consecutive Day of Giving on Tuesday, Nov. 29. The NMU Foundation encourages faculty, staff, alumni and friends to show their support for students through a variety of giving options.
The theme of this year's event revolves around expanding “the Northern Reach” through contributions to areas that helped to shape individuals' respective career and personal journeys.
Gifts to departments and programs offer flexible resources for advancing education for students. Gifts to men's and women's athletic teams are used for equipment and facility upgrades, and provide coaches funding to address team priorities that enhance player development.
“We encourage the university community to embrace the career- and life-changing experiences they have had because of NMU, and to help ensure that similar opportunities remain available for current and future students,” said Andy Hill, director of annual giving. “There are also opportunities to support health and well-being initiatives, which help to foster academic success and remove barriers to graduation. These are areas of increased emphasis at Northern.”
Hill said last year's event raised more than $900,000 for scholarships, departments, programs and areas of greatest need
