Northern Michigan University's sixth annual Day of Giving event on Nov. 29 has raised $950,000 in gifts and pledges to date, offering a blend of support to build endowments, increase scholarship dollars and provide direct funding to departments and programs.
"Near and far, alumni and friends reached forward to share their support by giving back to where it all began—to NMU and our students," said Andy Hill, director of annual giving with the NMU Foundation. "Together the NMU community raised new resources and provided critical aid that will foster greater academic success, expand teaching and learning, and remove barriers to graduation."
Hill thanked Day of Giving partners and sponsors who helped to elevate NMU programs and giving: TV6, Meijer, the Vander Veen family, Morgan Stanley-Jbara & Rogers Financial Management Group and the UP Land Conservancy.
"They helped advance sustainable education, improve student-athlete development and promote health and wellbeing," he added. "And the collaborative giving by our alumni and friends, faculty and staff and community members only strengthens the attachment we feel for NMU. On behalf of everyone who is impacted by these gifts, we offer our sincere thanks."
