Northern Michigan University's Department of Music will present a free Piano Duet Festival beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, in Reynolds Recital Hall. The festival will showcase the work of local piano teachers Esther Barrington and Nancy Railey, along with their students. Local pianist Lynne Lanczy will also perform.
Several young performers from beginner level to advanced will have an opportunity to play on the Steinway grand pianos at NMU. Featured pieces include "First Light," a Gaelic/Fred Kern composition, "Waltz in G# minor, op.39" by Johannes Brahms, “Toreador Song from Carmen” by Georges Bizet/Kern, and "Concerto in D Major, I. Vivace” by Joseph Haydn.
