Northern Michigan University will host its annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) event at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, in Ballroom IV at NMU's Northern Center. This event provides an opportunity to witness firsthand the research endeavors taking place on NMU's campus.
Developed by the University of Queensland, "3MT cultivates students' academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience."
Student researchers will present their work in three-minute presentations with one PowerPoint slide. Students presenting are enrolled in a graduate program or the McNair Scholars Program. Every participant has done original research.
The winners receive prizes for their accomplishments, and the graduate first-place winner represents NMU at the Midwest Association of Graduate Schools 3MT competition.
