The Northern Michigan University Alumni Association is launching Northern Now, a monthly digital event series for alumni and friends. The series kicks off at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday, Oct. 14, with exclusive interviews featuring Heidi Voigt, head coach of NMU's swimming and diving program, and Grant Potulny, head coach of the NMU Wildcat hockey team.

Moderated by Jessica Jones, development officer for Wildcat Athletics, attendees will hear an update from both coaches, virtually tour the newly renovated hockey locker room, receive insight from student athletes and participate in a live Q&A.

"This series will be a wonderful and fun way to connect with all Wildcats past and present—certainly in a time where we all need to feel engaged when we can't be in person together,” said Voigt. “It will bring excitement about our current student athletes who are continuing to practice and work to be the best they can, all while in a time of uncertainty."

Potulny adds. “Throughout the spring and summer we have become accustomed to using technology to connect with people. I am looking forward to sharing the update on college hockey, our program and the incoming players. I am very excited about this team and the upcoming season.”

The event is free and registration is required. Attendees register here and will receive the link to access the live stream.

Taking place on the second Wednesday of each month, Northern Now provides a behind-the-scenes look at NMU students, departments, athletics and more on campus with exclusive tours, interviews and interactive events.
