NMU Offers MoveUP Program

Northern Michigan University's MoveUP program is returning for the Fall 2023 semester. The service is provided by the School of Health and Human Performance and allows for NMU students and community members to engage in a variety of exercises at multiple intensities led by graduate students.

The program runs through Nov. 30 in room 146 of the PEIF, with hour-long classes available at 7 a.m. or 5 p.m. Participants are expected to attend three sessions a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and may pick from sessions that vary from vigorous to low intensity. The fitness sessions may include circuits, boot camp, yoga, walking/running intervals, resistance training, body weight routines and many others.

There is also an optional fitness test included in the cost of sessions that will include body composition (DEXA), resting heart rate, submaximal VO2 test, flexibility, muscular strength and muscular endurance.

The program is a one-time cost of $150, $140 for NMU students, faculty/staff. Returning participants are charged $100.
