Northern Michigan University seniors graduating from the School of Art & Design have artwork displayed at the DeVos Art Museum through Friday, April 29. The exhibition features students concentrating in ceramics, computer art, digital cinema, drawing/painting, graphic design, human-centered design, illustration, metalsmithing/sculpture as well as photography and woodworking.
The museum is open from noon until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but will be open until 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28. Admission is free and open to the public. But the reception is only for graduating seniors and their ticketed guests, and will not be open to the public.
Graduating Art & Design major Hannah Muzzey reflects back on her time in the Art & Design Program at NMU.
“Being able to have my work in an official gallery within the Art & Design program is an honor,” said Muzzey. “After having been in the program for four years and gaining so much knowledge, being able to share a piece that I was able to create because of everything I have been taught while at Northern is a fulfilling experience and satisfying accomplishment.”
Muzzey's artwork is printed on muslin fabric and hand-sewn together using the Vandyke Brown Photographic process. She is one of thirty-five graduating artists who have artwork displayed at the DeVos Art Museum.
