Marquette, Mich.— Two Northern Michigan University Olympic Training Site weightlifters competed at the American Open Finals this weekend in Salt Lake City, earning first- and fourth-place finishes.
Taylor Turner placed first overall in the 59 kg weight class. Turner earned medals for her top lifts of 92 kg in the snatch and 111 kg in the clean and jerk. She also earned a third gold medal for her 203 kg total.
Also lifting for the NMU-OTS squad was Alejandro Medina in the 109 kg weight class. Medina placed fourth in the snatch with a lift of 148 kg and sixth in the clean and jerk with a lift of 177 kg. His total of 325 kg earned him a fourth-place overall finish.
