The Northern Michigan University Regional Police Academy will host an informational meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in room B-12 of the Solin Business Center at Gogebic Community College.
Community members interested in attending NMU’s Regional Police Academy are invited to attend. Discussion will focus on the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES), requirements to enter the academy and an overview of the academy. A questions-and-answer session will follow.
The Regional Police Academy is a 16-week, 800-hour police training school designed to provide basic law enforcement training to in-service and pre-service recruits. At the successful completion of academy training, a recruit becomes licensable as a police officer through MCOLES. The next academy will run May-August 2019.
