Northern Michigan University's Regional Police Academy will host an information meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 in room 132 of NMU's Jacobetti Complex. To sign up for the meeting, call 227-1408. The meeting is specifically for those interested in attending the Regional Police Academy beginning in May 2020.
The Regional Police Academy is a 16-week, 800-hour police training school designed to provide basic law enforcement training to in-service and pre-service recruits. The curriculum covers such topics as firearms, precision driving, police and defensive tactics, domestic violence, traffic enforcement, criminal law and other law enforcement areas. At the successful completion of academy training, a recruit becomes licensable as a police officer through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES).
