Sheriff Alumnus Appointed to State Commission

Sheriff Greg Zyburt

Northern Michigan University alumnus and Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt was reappointed to the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. He represents the Michigan Sheriffs' Association and his term expires Dec. 31, 2026.

Zyburt graduated from Northern in 1980 with a bachelor's in law enforcement. He has worked in the field for 38 years, including previous roles as a road patrol officer and police chief.

The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards executes its statutory responsibility to promote public safety in Michigan by setting standards for selection, employment, licensing, license revocation, and funding in law enforcement and criminal justice, in both the public and private sectors.
