Northern Michigan University Alumni Relations has three new members on its NMU Alumni Advisory Board, with the addition of Amanda Erspamer '02 BS, '08 MAE, Stephen Waligora '15 BS and William “Bill” Sickert '82 BS.
The Alumni Advisory Board provides guidance and support to NMU Alumni Relations while helping strengthen connections between Northern and its more than 80,000 alumni around the world. Board members bring a range of professional experiences and perspectives while serving as ambassadors for the university and supporting meaningful opportunities for students and alumni.
“We are excited to welcome Amanda, Stephen and Bill to the Alumni Advisory Board,” said Kelsey Lynch, NMU's director of Alumni and Donor Engagement. “Each brings a unique perspective and a strong connection to Northern, and we look forward to the experience and energy they will bring to the board.”
Amanda Erspamer '02 BS, '08 MAE
Erspamer is an assistant principal at Marquette Senior High School and has more than 20 years of experience in education, including serving as a teacher, school psychologist assistant and administrator. A Marquette native and longtime NMU educator, she is passionate about supporting students and creating opportunities for them to succeed.
Stephen Waligora '15 BS
Waligora owns The Waligora Group, a Farm Bureau Insurance agency serving clients throughout Michigan, and brings nearly two decades of experience in environmental health and safety leadership. A nontraditional NMU student who completed his degree through the university's online program, he is passionate about mentoring students and helping more Southeast Michigan students discover Northern.
William “Bill” Sickert '82 BS
Sickert has built a career in regulatory, compliance and consumer products, contributing to more than $1 billion in consumer product sales. Now living in Utah, he remains connected to Northern and is passionate about helping the university prepare students to become “world-class people.”
The three new members began their terms on the Alumni Advisory Board in September 2026. They join returning board members who represent a variety of industries, communities and generations of Northern graduates.
