The Zodiac Trio, a premier violin-clarinet-piano ensemble, will perform as part of Northern Michigan University's Siril Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in Reynolds Recital Hall. The group will also host two free events earlier in the day, also in Reynolds: a music appreciation presentation at 11 a.m.; and a masterclass at 1 p.m.
The ensemble's members include Riko Higuma on piano, Vanessa Mollard on violin and Kliment Krylovskiy on clarinet. They made a name for themselves by "presenting masterpieces through their mold-breaking instrumentation alongside hidden gems, arrangements and duo/solo performances characterized by a particular energetic zeal."
The trio took form in 2006, when the three young musicians from the Manhattan School of Music decided to unite their talents to jumpstart their careers. A year later, the group attended the Paris Conservatory and studied under the unique chamber music program of the Ysaye Quartet—becoming the first American group and the first ensemble featuring a wind instrument to be accepted by the program.
Since its inception, the group has accrued wide critical acclaim for an unyielding dedication to perfecting their craft and spreading their love of chamber music with audiences. Learn more here.
Tickets are $12 for general admission, and free for Northern students and youth 18 and under. They may be purchased at nmu.universitytickets.com.
