NMU alumna Rebecca Normington, who earned a bachelor's degree in English in 1990, was appointed director of marketing communications for Security Health Plan of Wisconsin Inc., after almost 20 years in the affiliated Marshfield Clinic Health System.
Normington develops marketing and communication strategies for Security Health Plan, and engages with leaders across the Health Plan and Health System in order to identify and show the value Security brings to its members. She also leads executive communications and brand management for the Health Plan.
She joined the Marshfield Clinic Health System organization in 1994 as a marketing communication specialist in Marshfield Clinic's Corporate Communications Department, before serving as the Health Plan's marketing and communications manager for 17 years. In that time, she oversaw Security's marketing efforts, and implemented several improvement projects and led Security's response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I have been impressed with this organization since I started working here in 1994, and I still am,” Normington said in an interview. “It is an organization that is well-respected for high-quality health care and health coverage, and offers tremendous opportunities to employees. I enjoy being part of an organization that wants to do what's right for the people it serves. Security Health Plan continually looks for better ways to serve its customers – our members and employers.”
Normington also said her current role as director of marketing and communications helps her to develop a deeper understanding of Security Health Plan functions and the ways it works to improve access to care, improve the quality of care and reduce cost for its members.
