Alumnus Named CEO at VAST

Reed

Kelly Reed, a 2007 Northern Michigan University business management graduate and former Wildcat quarterback, is the new CEO at VAST in Marquette. He has been with the insurance and risk management firm for 15 years, most recently as a risk adviser for health care providers throughout the United States.

When he first joined VAST in 2007, Reed helped small to mid-sized businesses in the Upper Peninsula place insurance plans and develop strategies to manage risk. He soon transitioned to the health care sphere and, according to a VAST press release, will continue that work in his role as CEO.

Reed's industry recognitions include the ProAssurance Young Agent Award, the “Young Guns” award from Insurance Business America, a finalist for “Broking Rising Star” by Insurance Insider, and most recently a finalist for the 2022 Health Care Power Broker.

He is also a part of the Michigan Agent Council for Accident Fund and is the Chair of the Enterprise Agent Council for ProAssurance, the third largest medical professional liability carrier in the world. His designations include Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Licensed Insurance Counselor (LIC) and Professional Workers Compensation Adviser (PWCA).
