Bauman Named an NMU Outstanding English Grad

Audrey Bauman of Little Rock, Ark., has been named one of two Northern Michigan University English Department 2020-21 outstanding graduating graduate students. She is graduating May 1 with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree. 

At Northern, Bauman served as managing editor of Passages North literary magazine. She was the winner of the 2019 Paper Darts Short Fiction Award and an editor's choice selection for the 2020 CRAFT Flash Fiction Contest. Her work has also appeared in Jellyfish Review and HAD

Bauman thesis, advised by English Professor Jennifer Howard, is a collection of writing inspired by the Chinese text Classic of Mountains and Seas, and her Escholarship engages with science fiction studies and Asian-American speculations. 

NMU's virtual commencement will be held at 10 a.m. EST Saturday, May 1. Bryan Terrell Clark, a Broadway performer who played George Washington in Hamilton, will be the keynote speaker. Learn more about commencement and access a link to watch it live at www.nmu.edu/commencement.
