Audrey Bauman of Little Rock, Ark., has been named one of two Northern Michigan University English Department 2020-21 outstanding graduating graduate students. She is graduating May 1 with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree.
At Northern, Bauman served as managing editor of Passages North literary magazine. She was the winner of the 2019 Paper Darts Short Fiction Award and an editor's choice selection for the 2020 CRAFT Flash Fiction Contest. Her work has also appeared in Jellyfish Review and HAD.
Bauman thesis, advised by English Professor Jennifer Howard, is a collection of writing inspired by the Chinese text Classic of Mountains and Seas, and her Escholarship engages with science fiction studies and Asian-American speculations.
