Northern Michigan University will host its 30th annual Celebration of Student Scholarship from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in Jamrich Hall. The event highlights scholarly and creative work by undergraduate and graduate students across all disciplines. Presentations include posters, oral presentations, artistic performances and visual art displays. This follows another celebration of student scholarly activity: the inaugural Winter Research Day held earlier this semester.
The Celebration of Student Scholarship will kick off with an opening ceremony with President Chris Olsen at 9 a.m. in Jamrich 1100. Presentations will follow. A closing ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. in Jamrich 1100. It will include musical performances, along with presentations from winners of the Winter Research Day undergraduate three-minute presentations (3MP) and graduate three-minute thesis (3MT) competitions.
More than $2,700 in prizes was awarded to students on Winter Research Day, which also included poster presentations and a faculty scholarship "buzz session." Poster presentation winners were Ishani Sharma, first place; Jeannine Doyle, runnerup; and Natalie Molanu, People's Choice. The 3MP winners, along with the faculty buzz session participants, are identified and pictured below.
