Cota Named an Outstanding NMU Grad

Spencer Cota of Highland, Mich., has been named the Northern Michigan University College of Technology and Occupational Sciences 2020-21 outstanding graduating senior. A first-generation college student, Cota is graduating May 1 with a bachelor's degree in construction management. 

Cota has been an active member of the Northern Michigan Constructors, a construction management student organization, throughout his undergraduate career. Cota has taken on leadership roles by serving as executive secretary and vice president of the organization for the past two years.   

After internships the previous three summers with Boldt and Clark, Cota accepted a full-time offer from Clark Construction Company in Lansing, Mich. He has a 3.58 cumulative grade-point average and said that he continues to strive for excellence, both in and out of the classroom.

NMU's virtual commencement will be held at 10 a.m. EST Saturday, May 1. Bryan Terrell Clark, a Broadway performer who played George Washington in Hamilton, will be the keynote speaker. Learn more about commencement and access a link to watch it live at www.nmu.edu/commencement.
