Eisenhower Dance Detroit to Perform at NMU

Eisenhower Dance Detroit

Eisenhower Dance Detroit, considered one of the finest contemporary dance companies in the Midwest, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, and Friday, Feb. 9, at Northern Michigan University's Forest Roberts Theatre. The troupe will also offer a master class for NMU students with at least four years of previous dance training to the intermediate or advanced level from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 9.

Moving into its 33rd season, Eisenhower Dance Detroit gives life to the work of nationally and internationally known choreographers. Artistic Director Stephanie Pizzo continues to expand the company's innovative style and artistic vision while still honoring the legacy of Eisenhower Dance Detroit's founder, Laurie Eisenhower.

Pizzo joined the company as a founding member in 1991 and served in various roles. In her 7th season as artistic director, she focuses on collaborating with the highest quality national and international artists and creating strong ties within the metro Detroit community through the art of dance.

She also believes in educational programming and youth mentorship as key tools to develop community connection. Pizzo works to use the art of contemporary dance both as a means to present beautiful, athletic, and engaging repertory and as a vehicle to reflect on and explore issues of social significance.

This event is generously supported by the Siril Endowment for the Arts. Tickets prices for the performances are $20 for the general public, $15 for NMU employees, seniors and military; $12 for youth; and $5 for NMU students. They can be purchased at nmu.universitytickets.com.

Pre-registration for the master class is mandatory and will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. The registration form is available here.
