McCartney began his music career in 1999 as the youngest member of boy band Dream Street. They released one album to gold sales in the United States before disbanding. In 2004, he launched his solo career with the debut single "Beautiful Soul," which became a worldwide hit. The album of the same name was a platinum seller in the U.S. and Australia. McCartney sported a harder rock sound on his second album, Right Where You Want Me, which achieved similar success. The lead single from his third album Departure, "Leavin’,” became his most successful U.S. hit, achieving platinum status. He has also become known for his songwriting, having co-penned the worldwide number one "Bleeding Love" for English singer Leona Lewis.
Northern Arts and Entertainment (NAE) organized the concert. Past NAE performers include Maddie & Tae, Phillip Phillips, 3OH!3, Wocka Flocka Flame and Third Eye Blind.
