Journalist and media historian Gilad Halpern will present “The Role of the Media in Democratic Decline” at Northern Michigan University. His talk will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in Peninsula 5 in the Northern Center. It is free and open to the public.
Halpern is co-host of the Tel Aviv Review, a TLV1 podcast dedicated to books and research about Israel, the Middle East and other broadly related topics. He is also a founding co-editor of the Tel Aviv Review of Books magazine, an English-language online quarterly, and an Idit Fellow at the University of Haifa, researching the history of the Jewish press in Mandatory Palestine.
Halpern previously worked as managing editor for Ynetnews and assignment editor for Haaretz English edition. His work has appeared on the BBC, Al Jazeera, and in various news publications.
