Northern Michigan University has announced the 16 students who comprise the 2024 cohort of McNair Scholars. The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program is designed to increase graduation rates and post-baccalaureate success among first-generation students with financial needs, and students who come from a minority population that is underrepresented in graduate education.
NMU's McNair Scholars program works closely with students to support their pursuit of critical inquiry and encourages them to embrace diversity through cultural activities and research experiences. Scholars have the opportunity to engage in a faculty-guided research internship, McNair workshops and seminars, visits to graduate school campuses, preparation for the Graduate Record Exam, attendance at national and regional conferences and presentation of their own research.
