NMU Diversity and Inclusion is also offering a virtual, self-routed, self-paced walk/run from Jan. 18-Feb. 18. The mission of the movement challenge is to “lift and honor the stories of the civil rights and social justice movements; pay tribute to victims of racial violence; and provide an opportunity for racial healing through motion to reaffirm our humanity in one another.”
The NMU Center for Student Enrichment will again organize community service projects around MLK Day. The university's Diversity Common Reader Program revolves around the book Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Folding trenchant social critique into an intimate letter addressed to the author's son, Coates addresses issues at the heart of the antiracist protests that defined 2020.
