Northern Michigan University will host a series of summer camps for K-12 students. Programs range from day camps for young children to specialized residential experiences for high school students, with options focused on recreation, STEM, health careers, performing arts and athletics.

The university's Wildcat Kids Camp will run from June 15-Aug. 14, excluding July 3. The camp is open to children entering kindergarten through 4th grade in fall 2026, with an option for incoming 5th graders due to high demand in the tween program. Camp hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with structured programming from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $48 per day.

Wildcat Kids Camp offers a traditional day camp experience with indoor and outdoor activities designed to build skills, encourage teamwork and promote sportsmanship. Participants can attend for the full summer or select individual days.

In addition to youth camps, NMU will host a range of athletic camps led by Wildcat coaches and athletes. Summer offerings include swim and dive camp June 21-25 and basketball camps from June 13-20 for students in grades 3-12. Soccer camps, volleyball clinics and other sport-specific programs are also scheduled throughout the year, with additional details to be announced.

Non-athletic camps will provide hands-on learning experiences in science, technology and career exploration. STEM programs for students in K-8 will be offered June 22-26 and July 6-10, featuring robotics, coding and industry-based learning opportunities. Classes are available in morning and afternoon sessions.

High school students can participate in several immersive residential camps. The Upper Peninsula Future Health Leaders Camp will take place July 19-24 and is open to incoming 9th and 10th-grade students. The program includes hands-on training, simulation labs, hospital visits and CPR and first-aid certification, while introducing participants to a range of health care careers.

Additional residential opportunities include an environmental science camp scheduled for July 12-18, where students will study Upper Peninsula ecosystems through field research and campus-based activities, and the Cyber Defenders Camp from July 13-18, which focuses on cybersecurity skills and training.

Students interested in the arts can explore opportunities through the NMU Wildcat Performing Arts Academy, which offers workshops, intensives and pre-performance experiences in theatre, dance and music for youth and high school students.

Registration timelines vary by program. Most camps require advance registration and payment through NMU's ticketing system. For more information or to register, https://nmu.edu/youth-programs.
