The Northern Michigan University Orchestra will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19 in Reynolds Recital Hall. The concert features guest artist Craig Randal Johnson performing the “Piano Concerto in A Minor” by Edvard Grieg. This event is free and open to the public.
Johnson is professional bassist, conductor and pianist who has performed across the United States as Finlandia Foundation "Performer of the Year." He was recently decorated as Knight of the Order of the Lion of Finland by the Ambassador of Finland to the United States, honored for his contributions to Finnish culture as a conductor and pianist. Johnson is artistic director of the Minnehaha Repertory Orchestra in Minnesota. Previously he has conducted the Florida Symphony, Rome Festival Orchestra, Opera at the Pine Mountain Music Festival, and the Osnabrücker Sinfoniker, among others.
The NMU Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Barbara Rhyneer, will also be performing "Adagietto" from “Symphony No. 5” by Gustav Mahler and "March to the Scaffold" from “Symphonie Fantastique” by Hector Berlioz.
